A recent donation given to the University of Florida by a Houston businessman has made him the school’s first $100 million donor. Houstonian Al Warrington has been making contributions to the school since he graduated in 1958, but his recent gift of $75 million has pushed him over the $100 million mark.

Al Warrington is the founder of two Houston-based companies, Sanifill Inc., which is known today as Houston’s Waste Management and Houston Plating and Coatings LLC. In addition to his work in Houston, he is also a co-founder of Atlanta-based House of Cheatham Inc., a health and beauty aids manufacturer.

Both Al and his wife Judy have been making donations to the University of Florida for many years now. In 1996, after establishing a $12 million endowment, the university renamed its business school to the Warrington College of Business Administration.

Thanks to Al and Judy Warrington’s immense kindness and generosity, the University of Florida will increase fundingfor business professors. The university is very grateful for all of the donations they receive, but they are especially proud to call Mr. Warrington the largest donor in the school’s history!
