Do you have a soft spot for dolphins, whales, and quirky marine mammals? If you live in Galveston, or surrounding areas, and are looking for ways to help your community, consider volunteering for the Texas Marine Mammal Stranding Network or TMMSN. This marine mammal conservation group aids through rescue, rehabilitation, education and research.

Founded in 1980, you can help the TMMSN assist marine life stranded or hurt along the coastline. After filling out an application and attending a daylong orientation, dedicated volunteers approved will be able to assist with field recovery and necropsy research, aid in 24-hour rescue, rehabilitation, release of marine life, and educating the public.

As this wonderful non-profit organization doesn’t receive state funding, your help is strongly relied upon to complete their rescue missions and preparing these animals to be released back into the ocean. Think this may be the organization for you? Read more about it here!
