The Star of Hope is constantly welcoming experienced and new volunteers to help serve those in need in the Houston area. The Christ-centered organization has been assisting homeless men, women and children since it formed the first homeless shelter in our city in 1907.

With a numerous programs and services offered within the Star of Hope community, such as the Women and Family Emergency Shelter, The Men’s Development Center, New Horizons, and the Transitional Living Center for Women & Families, you can definitely lend a hand to the approximately 1,200 homeless people who are helped every day.

Serve meals, assist in the Family Store, tutor adults and children, lend a hand in the Computer Learning Centers, the volunteer options are truly endless! Professional Volunteers are also always welcome to share their area of expertise with the community whether you are a chef, lawyer, teacher, accountant or optometrist; your skills are needed and valued.

If you need some flexibility, volunteer at special events and donation drives that happen throughout the year. Special Projects are the perfect idea for team building exercise as your group can help others while bonding at the same time.

Amazingly, the Star of Hope also offers the unique opportunity of becoming a Virtual Volunteer as you help organize events from the comfort of your home or office or in between your school schedule.
