Established in 1979, The Women’s Fund for Health Education and Research has been a huge asset to women in our community. The organization offers significant support providing learning opportunities, educational resources and sharing much needed information for success, encouraging women to control over their own bodies and better their health.
The Women’s Fund is all about building strong women with great habits that will reduce illness and boost life quality. Joined with other corporations and businesses, volunteers help make sure all of the services offered by The Women Fund are available and run smoothly.
As a volunteer you can host a health picnic or health fair for the community, help organize and attend “SMART lunches,” or even gain the skills to be an educational leader and develop programs. And if you want to help but can’t travel, you can assist The Women’s Fund from home! Compile statistics for their programs, blog using their health information, edit newsletters or review current health articles. There is no limit on what you can accomplish if women’s health is something you are passionate about.
Did we mention they’ll even train you? Fill out their volunteer form to begin the process of giving in a way that will have a long-term effect on so many young girls and women all around Houston.
According to the non-profit organization, Texas has the 14th highest rate of adult obesity in the US at 27.9%, plus 60% of women in Harris County are considered obese. Help the women in Houston live healthier lives filled with more energy, happiness and productivity as they pass what they learn to future generations.
