In recent years, Amazon has become the go-to destination for online shopping. What started as a small book store out of Jeff Bezos’ garage has become the largest online retailer of everything, literally, almost everything you need, including groceries, can be bought at Amazon.com. With that being said, if you could buy everything you needed, and the company would give back a portion of the sale price to a charity that you get to choose, why wouldn’t you?
Amazon’s new program does exactly that! When you use AmazonSmile, Amazon will donate .5% of the purchase price of all eligible items you check out with to a charity of your choosing. The millions of products available from AmazonSmile are also the same from Amazon.com, but shopping here is definitely worth it.
Currently, there are just about one million non-profit signed up as possible choices, from St. Jude’s Research, to the ASPCA, local schools, churches and other worthy local charities in your area as well.
If you operate a charitable organization you can also apply to benefit from AmazonSmile. The program is perfect because you can buy such a wide variety of necessities from Amazon, and instead of going out to get them, you have the luxury of purchasing them from your own home and still are giving back to charities in need.
The process is simple, and you can use your existing Amazon accounts to shop through AmazonSmile. Simply head over to Smile.Amazon.com the next time you would go to Amazon.com and they will prompt you to select the charity you wish to receive the donations. Shop as normal, but keep an eye out for things that are specifically eligible for AmazonSmile donations and then checkout.
Now you can get all your shopping done without ever leaving the house as you help donate to charity while you’re at it. AmazonSmile definitely makes the case for online shopping if you weren’t a fan before. Giving back is important, and it is very special of them to offer this great service to help out those in need.
