Canstruction, Making a Difference One Can at a Time

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3KhRJaDBALo

Canstruction is a national competition and charity sponsored by the design and construction industry. Originally created by the Society of Design Administration, this amazing food drive allows professionals in the industry to massively test their skills for a great cause that affects millions, hunger.

Helping to end the suffering of hunger in various communities, the competition is a designing and building feat that showcases the talents of engineers, architects, and construction firms, as well as the students they mentor, as they build “Canscupltures” to take home a win, pushing their creativity and logic to their limits!

The Cansculptures are created out of donated cans of canned food and other non-perishable items that, after the exhibition, are donated directly to the food bank holding the event. Students and designers can take pride in knowing their Cansculptures will change the face of hunger by not only providing food for the needy, but raising awareness of the issue and lifting spirits of those involved.

Joining a team will require an involvement in either a school or having a career in the construction/design industry. However, you can volunteer at the event by sending an email to volunteer@canstruction-houston.com.

The event begins Saturday, November 7, 2015, with the Canstruction build, and is open to the public for viewing and voting on Sunday. To view the beauty of design and incredible buildings made up of only canned goods the cost is simple for you and your family, just a one can donation for the community food drive also held that day. Anything and everything helps in the fight to end hunger for our fellow Houstonians so, be sure to head out to the event to be impressed for a fantastic cause!
